We’re going [back] to Uganda! We will be partnering our friends at Project Doxa, working with church networks who are active in proclaiming the Gospel, making disciples, planting churches, and raising up new leaders. We have relationships with these friends going back 20 years, and it is always a joy to work with them. Uganda is a beautiful nation with amazing people, and is also a place with profound need.

Trip Purpose

The primary purpose of this trip is to continue helping the churches in Uganda in the areas of sharing the gospel, discipleship and equipping new leaders. We will also have the opportunity to serve a ministry that reaches out to street children. Such times provide significant encouragement to the believers in Uganda, and because of our relationships we can have confidence that we are making a genuine investment in the work of Jesus long-term.

What Will We Be Doing?

In order ot accomplish the above purposes, we'll get to jump into a variety of different areas of service. Here are some key ones:

PRAYER.
We will join our Ugandan friends in prayer for their country, and the surrounding nations. There are great and complex challenges in this region of the world, and we need God to intervene. Political corruption and intrigue, war, poverty, sickness, false teaching within the church, disunity and factions, tribalism. The list goes on. The Father, on the other hand, brings hope and light, love, provision, and healing. We need to call out to Him!

EVANGELISM. Joining believers in Uganda in sharing the Gospel with their communities is powerful on several levels. First, of course, people who do not currently know Jesus will be welcomed into His family. This is amazing! The presence of foreigners like us can be a helpful catalyst in this, but even moreso we can lend credibility to the ongoing witness of the churches. Finally, this work, more than any other, will help us as visitors to Uganda to develop relationships and gain understanding of Ugandan life and culture. We will work side-by-side with church members, and will have the opportunity to see Ugandans in the midst of their daily life -- finding them in markets, in town, in their homes, etc.

TEACHING.
For those who are so inclined, there will be opportunities to teach believers and church leaders. We will focus on basic discipleship and biblical understanding, and also work with leaders on strategies to establish their churches and the believers who are part of them.

MINISTRY TO THE POOR. We will also have the opportunity to join ministries who are actively reaching out to the poor and needy. For example, we will spend some time with our friends Fatuma and Darren, who minister to street children, inviting them into family and healing.

WHATEVER. To be honest, you never really know what may happen. So, we'll be flexible, and keep our eyes open for opportunities the Spirit will prepare for us. This is the fun part!
